Time for just you and the kids to have an amazing time on Ko Samui Island. Away from routines, work, school and daily life. Time to relax, have fun, see new things and explore. Here are 5 family-friendly activities in Samui that you and the kids will love:
- Swim, sunbathe and build sandcastles on the beach
Ko Samui is home to more than a few of those gorgeous white-sand beaches overlooking the azure sea of South Thailand. So, put on your bathers, bring sarongs, sunblock, sun hats, sunglasses and spades and buckets to spend a wonderful family day at the beach. After swimming and snorkeling in the crystal clear water, mum and dad can sip some tropical cocktails and coconuts while snoozing and sunbathing beneath the towering coconut palm trees. In the meantime, the little ones can happily play with sand and water, building sandcastles, baking sand cookies, cakes and pizza. The perfect start of your holiday! Head to Bophut, Chaweng, Lamai or find some lesser known hidden paradises – there are plenty!
- Jungle hiking adventure to the Na Muang waterfalls
Take the kids on a little outdoor adventure and head out to a cascading waterfall oasis. You will be going on a little hike through the tropical jungle, so do remember to wear mosquito repellent and off you go, on a jungle hunt to find the Na Muang waterfalls. The journey will be rewarded with a swim in the natural pool created by the fresh spring water of the falls. Depending on the age and the energy of the kids, you can hike further to reach the second waterfall. The ambiance is peaceful and the surroundings are beautifully unspoilt. Bring a picnic basket/backpack filled with drinks and snacks and you are in for a great family day out.
- Hang around by the pool in your own private family luxury villa
No better way to spend ultimate undisturbed quality time with the kids than renting a private pool luxury villa just for you and the kids to enjoy. Relax, sip a coconut and embrace the good and peaceful family life. Kids won’t need much more than a pool to be happy and splashy all day long. Parents can truly relax and finally read that book. The villa’s staff can provide you with drinks and snacks during the day and perhaps in the afternoon, you can organize a barbecue feast in the garden or munch on some mouthwatering home cooked Thai food. Life doesn’t get much sweeter than this.
- Visit Butterfly Garden and Museum of Insects
Every kid loves butterflies, especially the ones that are big, colourful and beautiful like the tropical ones found here in the Butterfly Garden of Ko Samui. Inspects on the other hand, are a bit scary but surely fascinating to admire from up-close. Go check it out!
- Slide, splash, swim and dive at Samui’s Water Parks
Surely, the kids will be thrilled to go visit a waterpark with multiple swimming pools and slides for young and old. Coco Splash and the Pink Elephant Samui Water Park make great fun, colorful places to spend the whole day in the water, drifting in the lazy river and the wave pool, playing at the water playground for little kiddos and trying out all of the slides – if they dare. Waterpark visits are more than fun and at the end of the day, the little rascals will be exhausted so parents can enjoy an evening of quality time together in the villa, sharing a bottle of wine with some snacks.
